Extraction and Origin

Copaiba essential oil is extracted from Copaiba resin/hart through vacuum distillation, a gentle process that preserves the oil's valuable components. The resin is extracted from wild-growing trees in the Amazon region of South America, where the trees can reach up to 20 meters in height. By drilling a hole in the bark, the resin can be collected sustainably.

Properties and Uses

The essential oil has a light brown color and a sweet, woody balsam scent, making it a popular base note in perfumes and an excellent fixative for your own aroma blends. Copaiba contains sesquiterpenes such as B-caryophyllene (approx. 40%), germacrene (approx. 14%) and a-trans-bergamotene (7%).
